1. Postdoctoral Researcher (research associate)

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher who has strong interest in developing and applying novel materials to study neurons. The researcher will be able to interact with world-class scientists from diverse fields such as biology, chemistry, and physics inside and outside iCeMS.

The Institute for Integrated Cell-Material Sciences (iCeMS) was established in 2007, aiming to create new multidisciplinary research fields. English is the official language of the institute. Active global recruitment effort aims to put the institute at the center of career development plans for the world's brightest junior investigators. Preferred requirements
– Ph. D. degree in neuroscience, molecular and cellular biology or related fields;
– Prior experience in neurobiological experiments such as brain sectioning, FISH, imaging, electrophysiology or maintaining neuronal cultures;
– Comfortable with making scientific discussions in English.

Starting date
– November 2012 and after

2. Graduate & Undergraduate student researchers

We welcome enthusiastic graduate and undergraduate students who are currently enrolled or will enroll in Kyoto University. The students will be able to learn the process of defining scientific targets, designing and executing experiments, organizing data, presenting scientific results at national and international conferences, and preparing manuscripts for journal submission. With training in critical-thinking, communication and problem-solving skills, they will also receive guidance when moving to the next step after graduation. Financial support may be available.

3. Technical Staff

We welcome technical staff with ample biological training experience or imaging experience. The staff can be either a part-time or full-time employee. The technical staff will be involved in planning experiments, organizing data, developing new techniques, and preparing manuscripts for journal submission.

4. Lab Manager

We welcome a lab manager to supervise lab activities to ensure the highest operating standards. His/her job involves managing personnel, keeping records of budgets/purchases, and overseeing the compliance with university, city, and national regulation.
